The Tax Accountant is responsible for assisting in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profit organizations. This role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years of tax preparation experience who is eager to expand their knowledge and grow within a supportive CPA firm.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and trust income tax returns
• Gather, organize, and analyze client financial information
• Identify potential tax credits, deductions, and liabilities
• Assist in responding to IRS and state tax notices
• Maintain client confidentiality and protect sensitive information
• Stay updated on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
• Communicate with clients to request documentation and clarify information
• Support senior accountants and partners with tax planning and research


Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, MAcc preferred
• Experience: 1-2 years of recent experience preparing tax returns in a public accounting environment preferred
• Certifications: Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA or working toward CPA designation is preferred


Skills and Competencies:
• Working knowledge of tax preparation software (e.g., ProSystem fx, UltraTax, Lacerte, or similar)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
